Winter '10

Hello!

Well, after a wonderful winter break, I am once again back in San Diego. I always feel like it's hard to transition. I get used to living the school life at SD and then going back home for a long period of time takes a bit of adjusting. Then I get used to being at home with familiarity and convenience, which makes going back to school kind of hard again. I know, I should be familiar with almost everything at school now that I'm a sophomore, but I still feel like time flew by way too fast and I still need to catch up. It's kind of weird to me because I see all these people who are really close with other people, but I still feel like I'm getting to know/not very familiar with many people. I definitely feel much closer to a lot of people at church now compared to before (which could be saying...not much...but for some people it's been a good development in friendship). Hopefully the more consistent I am in hanging out and just going to fellowship/service the deeper my friendships can become.

This past weekend, I had so much fun! Kendrick, Elise, and Jeff all came to visit me! I absolutely LOVE it when people visit me. In the morning, we ate breakfast at Cafe on Park, which is actually a cafe on the street named Park. I ordered a pancake and it seriously looked like I was eating a giant pizza of pancake. It was delicious though. We then headed over to the Birch Aquarium near my apartment. It's a really small aquarium, but it was still cute and entertaining. I feel like aquariums are way better than zoos. The creatures seem so much more exotic! After that, we were all tired and still full so we all rested in the living room watching TV until about 3PM when we headed over to the movie theaters to watch Youth in Revolt. It was really funny and crazy and Michael Cera's presence obviously made it awesome. For dinner, we ate at this place called Prepkitchen. We ordered the cheese and salami board and sandwiches. Man...this place ROCKS! I was a bit worried it would just end up being a regular old sandwich place, but everything there was seriously so delicious. I really want to go back. After a light dinner, we saved space for some Extraordinary Desserts. Kendrick and I shared an apple pie with peanut brittle ice cream, Jeff got a really yummy, rich chocolate cake, and Elise got a really good strawberry cake. Overall, the visit was AWESOME! I always hate it when they have to leave, but I need to learn to remember and enjoy the day rather than dwell on the fact that it's over.

For school, every day is packed with things to do even though I only have class on Tuesday and Thursday. Work is still awesome and I love it! I don't know why, but I love working in an office. What most people find boring about it, I embrace and I'm sure they're happy they have me around to joyfully do the tasks they don't want to do. I did feel very special on Friday, though. One of the important people who are really high up approached me and asked if I would represent the Intercollegiate Athletics Department at this social event and I was really flattered! However, I had already planned the awesome day with Kendrick, Elise, and Jeff (which was way more awesome than going to a social event for work), but I definitely felt appreciated.

We will see how this quarter goes. May God lead me in His will =)
